Helen, thy beauty is to me
Like those Nicean barks of yore,
That gently, o'er a perfumed sea,
The weary, way-worn wanderer bore
To his own native shore.

On desperate seas long wont to roam,
Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
The Naiad airs have brought me home

How statue-like I see thee stand,

注：1. those Nicean barks of yore: 古代尼西亚人那些航船，意指含有古典美。
2. hyacinth: 风信子花。依据古希腊神话，太阳神阿波罗所钟爱少年海尔欣瑟斯（Hyacinthus）有一头漂亮长发，在她被误杀后，从她血泊中长出了一个纤细修长，迎风招展漂亮鲜花。
3. airs: 音乐旋律和曲调。
4. agate: 玛瑙。
5. Psyche: 普塞克，古希腊、罗马神话中嫁给爱神厄洛斯美女。厄洛斯严禁她看见自己形象，不过普塞克还是克制不住好奇心，在夜晚举灯看见了丈夫模样，结果被逐出家门。
